Favourite Things Friday

I've been on the sick list this week. All of last weekend I was struggling not to give in to a mild sore throat . My body was just lulling me into a false sense of security and on Tuesday my body revolted and I came home early from work and had Wednesday off. A ton of  sleeping made me feel better. I went back to work yesterday and I think I overdid it because I was blissfully snoring by about 9.00pm last night on the couch. woke this morning to some semblance of normal , ran around doing "stuff" like a hairy goat all morning and crashed again this afternoon.

One of my jobs this morning  (before I found it necessary to sleep to get through the rest of the day )was to go forth and find an ironing board cover that didn't look like this one.

Mr. P has just commented even he didn't  realise how grotty the old one was until he saw it OFF the ironing board. I realised it when I did my little apron tute a couple of weekends ago and I've been meaning to get a new one ever since. It doesn't seem like that long since we got this one , so it obviously gets a lot of use. (not with actual clothes, I rarely iron clothes but I do iron a lot of fabric and seams and other interesting stuff )

Ta Da ! I bought this one , which I imagine will get grubby really fast too.

Cynthia did a post this week in which she mentioned how sad her life was because she was excited about getting a new freezer. I got a thrill buying a new ironing board cover and not only that, it's my favourite thing this week. I'm  pretty sure that makes my life sadder than yours Cynthia ! I'd really appreciate some bloggy love confirming that the rest of you get the same thrill when you replace your ironing board cover so I can feel slightly normal.

I'd love to see your favourite thing this week too!

Sorry to hear your body is revolting!
I confess, I too was very pleased and excited with my new ironing cover when I replaced it not that long ago.

It is the little things in live that keep me going. It is a thrill to come home to find that someone besides me has emptied the dish drainer. I know that I would be doing a happy dance if I got a new ironing board cover!

I think we get so excited because we leave it till the old one is hanging in shreds before we replace it. I think my present one is worse than your old one. How on earth do you get the damn thing to sit right and stay in place? I think they should do up like shoe laces underneath to hold them firmly in place. I might just invent something like that. I bet I'd make a million!
Cheers
PS. Glad you're feeling better

I'm such a ninny because for months I was grumbling about having to get a new ironing board cover because mine was so worn and tears in it and looked old and nasty, finally when I couldn't take it any more and was writing "new cover" on my shopping list I suddenly remembered it is reversible so within 1 minute I had a new cover. It's not as pretty as yours though. I hope you are feeling better Shay, Keep warm under quilts and use aloe vera tissues.

Sorry to hear that you were under the weather this week. Glad you are on the mend.

I like things to be new and shiny, plus it's nice to make a change. I have a thermal cover on my cutting table, so I press there and don't use my ironing board so much. Even so, I replaced the foam under the cover with batting a few months ago and was just thrilled with how smooth and cushy it was.

I did a happy dance when I got a new ironing board as the old one would only go up about 18" and I had kept using it for ages. I think this is a great FFT. I will not have one today as my face is still half numb and I look like a stroke victim having spent the morning with the 'D' person whose name you do not like mentioned.

A revolting body...geez, welcome to the club. it is going around the dreaded lurgy as it is called sometimes.
I tell you the simple things in life that make it worthwhile...I have a new ironing cover which I made for quilting as I don't iron pants blouses etc, so a large square board was perfect. I know simple love is rewarding...

looks nice! I have a small ironing board that could use a facelift.

I got shivers when I saw your new ironing board cover! I must have one!! I love birds and bird cages.

Thanks for mentioning me in your blog! I am very honored.

I am so sorry you were not well. As you know, I had the sinus thing going and schelpt around the house for over a week. I am so glad you are better. I am sure seeing your new ironing board cover will continue to lift your spirits and you will be better in no time!

Ohhhhh I'd be happy over that one too! It is a lovely design. I'm like you...Very little clothes ironing (leaves less time for the important stuff like sewing) and lotsa craft ironing and pressing.

We, surprisingly, don't have an ironing board. I just grab a big piece of fabric and fold it up thick and use that. It always changes, which means it's always pretty.

Little things like that make me happy too. Love the birdcage design on the cover. Hope you're back firing on all cylinders soon!

You're not alone. My DH covered my mini ironing board for me a while back and I was so excited I blogged about it.
Hope you feel better soon!

Hope you are well and truly on the mend. I like that ironing board cover that would be my favourite thing too if I had one like that I always by those cheap teflon thingys.

Hope the sick germs stay away for a good long while. I try never to mention out loud that I haven't been sick in a long time--you know how that CALLS all the germs in the five mile radius to you!

My life is pretty dull too, as I was thrilled to get a portable clothesline a few weeks back. But these things are simple pleasures and there is nothing wrong with that!

Oh dear, nothing worse than a mutinous body! Hope you get over the need for granny naps soon...

Second try....hope you are feeling better already. Can you please do me a favour? Next time you are ill, don´t send your germs my way. I HATE being sick in the summer and even though I really admire you and think you are an awesome person I do not care to share your germs :-)

Sorry to hear you were under the weather. Hope you're feeling better. I still need to replace my ironing board cover .. my life is even sadder. One of my favorite things is putting staples in the stapler (evidence that I accomplished something in my mind).

Hope you are feeling better. I also get excited about the little things that don't need doing too often. I made myself an ironing board cover out of canvas several years ago. I used the padding out of a couple of old covers. It has stood the test of time and when it gets bad looking, a quick trip through the wash and it's new again. Lane

Oh, but what a cool cover you got! That would be my favorite for the week, too, I think.

I made an ironing board cover for my little ironing board less than two years ago. It is stained and faded and it just makes me sad. I've washed it a couple of times, but it never comes out the same as when it was new and made me so happy. Love your new one!
